Outdoor Learning Workshops

Opening the eyes of young people can help broaden their horizons

During these dynamic workshops we look at problem solving and team challenges to complete various tasks using outdoor skills, traditional bushcraft techniques and the application of lateral thinking and background wisdom (common sense).

We look at how something works but also focus at why certain actions and motions conclude in the results we see. We then build on this to resolve problems or improve systems to enhance the desired outcome.

Structures, friction, rotation, heat and energy transfer, gravity, angles, magnets, willow helicopters, chemical reactions, properties filtration elements, forces and pullies,

Our outdoor education sessions are tailored towards your learners needs; Nursery and Early Years, KS1, KS2, KS3 and further education groups.

Our outdoor education workshops look at training for staff in any educational setting.

Using traditional tools & techniques, we can create something that is both simple and aesthetically pleasing to use, hold & keep.

  • Pole lathes
  • Simple carving and safe tool use
  • Spoon carving & green wood projects
  • Carving hazel crayons using a shave horse
  • Building structures from round wood timber
  • How to build a yurt

Orienteering is a challenging outdoor adventure activity that exercises both the mind and body. It is also a cross curricular activity that can support Maths, PE and Geography.

The aim is to navigate in sequence between control points marked on a map and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time.

Orienteering is often run in open areas of countryside but can be simplified within progressive workshops to take place within your own school grounds.

Broadly speaking, an orienteering workshop can literally be as a small or as a larger as you wish to make it. Give us a call to see how we can design a workshop that works for you and your needs.
