Accredited Forestry First Aid (+F) Courses

Whether you’re working with chainsaws, managing woodland sites, or supporting countryside operations, our Forestry First Aid courses are designed to meet the specific risks and responsibilities of outdoor professionals. These nationally recognised qualifications include all core emergency first aid content, plus the additional +F elements required for those working in forestry and remote environments.

Who are these courses are suitable for:

  • Forestry workers
  • Arboriculturists and tree surgeons
  • Countryside rangers
  • Chainsaw operators
  • In addition to Forestry, other +F type settings include Farming, Fishing & Field Sports.

ITC Level 3 Award in +F First Aid at Work (FAW+F)

If you work alone, are a team leader, or frequently work in remote locations; then this course is for you

Course Duration:

3 days (18 hrs).  The refresher course for the FAW+F is 2 days, every 3 years.

 

What you’ll learn

+F Modules:

  • Hypothermia: recognition and treatment
  • Lyme disease: recognition and treatment
  • Adder bites: treatment and response
  • Severe bleed management
  • Crush injury treatment
  • Emergency action planning

Core First Aid Topics:

  • Vital signs and incident management (ABC approach)
  • Airway management and unconscious collapse
  • Recovery positions and safe airway techniques
  • CPR for adults and children
  • AED/defibrillator use
  • Choking in adults and children
  • Circulation issues: internal/external bleeding and shock
  • Bandaging techniques
  • Minor injuries: cuts, grazes, splinters, bruise
  • Major injuries: Fractures, head injuries, spinal injuries, chest injuries, eye injuries
  • Medical emergencies: heart attack, angina, stroke, asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes
  • Poisoning
  • Burns (including electrical & chemical)
  • Accident reporting and documentation

 

 

ITC Level 3 Award in +F Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW+F)

If you are a member of a team or those occasionally working in remote locations: then this course is for you.

Course Duration:

1 day (7hrs). The EFAW+F is valid for 3 years and requires retaking upon expiry.

ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (additional e-certificate with +F Add-On)

If you’re looking for a broader outdoor qualification, our 2-day Outdoor First Aid course includes most +F content as standard. We’re happy to add the Severe Bleeding module on request and can provide an “ITC First +F” E-Certificate to confirm that you’ve met all +F requirements.
