The Forest School First Aid course is a 2-day, 16-hour course
aimed at those involved in the delivery of Forest School sessions. This course is accredited through ITC First and has become the benchmark for first aid training for Forest School
practitioners.
The course rationale is focused on the outdoor environment but also structures around the range of activities facilitated within a Forest School
session. It prepares practitioners to:
* deal with situations where they may be within minutes of help but also where they are remote; remote being up to 30 minutes away from
help.
* to assess and deal with both children and adults
Topics include; roles & responsibilities, dealing with
collapse (with and without breathing), choking, bleeding, shock, major illnesses, torso and limb injuries, environmental effects, heat & cold injuries, using first aid kit, outdoor specific
scenarios, outdoor incident management, answering queries such as when or how to remove boots, helmets and looking after a casualty for some hours.
Our course is structured with plenty of scenarios in outdoor management to enable lots of hands-on experience which will boost your confidence when
dealing with the real thing.
Learner ratio is 1:12
Cost per person is £130
Please note THIS COURSE DOES NOT CATER FOR DEALING WITH INFANTS AGED 0-12 MONTHS AND THEREFORE CAN NOT BE CONSIDERED AS A PAEDIATRIC QUALIFICATION
